The trip was lovely but the staff on the boat was very unfriendly. It took us 20 min to get on the boat because allegedly there were no tickets left. We were also asked if we were incapable of understanding that we can’t enter the (obviously half-empty) boat. We had to run back to the hotel, where the receptionist sold us the tickets, had to run back to the boat. They let us on board then, with further unnecessary comments about us being not welcome. We had my 80 year old grandma with us and it was supposed to be her birthday present :(
We went from the train station in Bad Schandau and luckily we caught the boat. was short but very nice. You can enjoy a wonderful view of BadShandau and it made our visit of the town more pleasurable. It is cheap but if you have a train ticket you can take the ride for free.

Today we took a beautiful trip with the family on the Elbe with the beautiful steamship Kurort Rathen. From Bad Schandau via Prossen, Königstein, Kurort Rathen, Stadt Wehlen, Pirna to Pillnitz and back to Bad Schandau. The boat leaves Bad Schandau at 09:30 and arrives in Pillnitz at 12:00. If you buy a return ticket you will arrive back in Bad Schandau at 4:30 PM.
It is a beautiful trip through the beautiful landscape. The ship is also fantastic, the radar boat is set in motion by steam. Food and drinks are for sale on the ship, which you can pay for in cash or by bank card. Despite the occasional rain, it was enjoyable.
Definitely worth taking a trip on on of these fantastically well maintained delightful paddle steamers... Great scenery and you can have a meal, ice-cream or beer too.
Our paddle steamer PIRNA set off for Königstein from the landing stage in Bad Schandau. The journey took 30 minutes. The Elbe valley was very impressive.
Very nice trip on the Elbe with the steamboat. Really great and great view of nature. You can really relax and sip delicious iced chocolate. Really worth it 👍 …
This time we took the Pirna from Bad Schandau.
Steamboat travel is always an experience. Unfortunately there is no accompanying shipping information about the sights on our route. Serviceperle was on her toes (hats off) but the rest of the crew was probably like that (:
Schitt Sunday, we always have to take the stupid route.).
The only information was the next stop and where the passengers could disembark. The catering was very sparse. The captain (ship's guide) understandably shouted at some passengers who were waiting on land and ignored the giant signs (when it says first let the guests get off and then when the crew takes away the locking chain 😡 some people just don't get it. They They are afraid that the ship will sail without them. It's just embarrassing. It's clear that the crew is upset.
The travel times that were stated did NOT match the online times. In addition, the ticket counters were closed, the giant ticket machines were probably in operation, but tickets don't work. More appearance than reality.
This is how you can set a traditional shipping route on the ground.
